Amazon’s Virtual Studio is revolutionizing the way content is created, making it more accessible, efficient, and adaptable to the evolving demands of the entertainment industry. It is a powerful, cloud-based platform designed to support creative professionals in producing high-quality content remotely. It leverages Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide secure, scalable, and efficient virtual production environments for film, television, animation, and other multimedia projects. Previously, I created two Audible books as the narrator. It was an interesting project, fun, and tons of work. The editing process was very intense and time-consuming. My motivation for being the narrator was personal in that I wanted to leave future generations of my relatives to hear my voice. I definitely accomplished that. In fact, so much so that the listening quality of my book is less than stellar. I have a slight Brooklyn accent, and the MC’s were from Brooklyn, so I assumed that would work. Listener feedback hasn’t been that great, so I was thinking about using AI for my next books, but the charges were too high right now
Then Amazon notified me that my books had been selected to use their Virtual Studio software that is in Beta and free!! I jumped at the chance. You select the book from your Kindle bookshelf and then open it up in Virtual Studio. You choose a voice from the selections, and the book is uploaded and ready to read. The AI voice is amazing. It knows most of the time when and where to place emphasis in a sentence. The minimal editing tools add pauses, enable the correct pronunciation by writing the word out phonetically, and slow or increase the pace of the narrator’s voice. It made for some challenges to get it right, but this AI voice eventually figured out what I wanted. Like a real person!!
I am almost finished with the Audible book for Sunspots. Hopefully, in the future, this software will add some features like multiple voices in the same chapter for conversations between two or more people. I intend to create more Audible books this way. Sorry for all you VO actors who have lost work, but I couldn’t afford you anyway and I use open-source Audacity to create my books myself. Now, at least my MC won’t sound like she’s from Brooklyn.
AND DID I MENTION IT WAS FREE?????
