Hard to believe, but yahoo small business now claims they can’t make my domain registration public in order for me to transfer it to GoDaddy. Another glitch in their system. Basically, they’re holding my site hostage on their server. Keeping me an unwilling customer. I reported them for abuse to ICANN, an internet oversight group for domains and such. I felt frustrated, victimized, and powerless. Then came Melbourneit.com to the rescue.
Firstly, let me say, I’ve become far too knowledgeable, but not knowledgeable enough, about databases, file managers, MYSQL, domains and the like because of the astounding incompetence of yahoo small business technicians. All I can repeat to anyone who will listen is STAY AWAY. Now, back to Melbourneit.com. That’s the company where yahoo bought my domain name. Yahoo manages it, but to transfer to another server it needs to make the registration public through Melbourneit who then makes my admin email address be my personal email instead of contact@privateregistration.com. Melbourneit manages the whois records that keeps all the info on domain names. See what I mean about learning all this important but confusing nonsense? I’m a writer, not a techie.
So this morning, after the lying SOBS at yahoo told me there’s a glitch trying to turn my domain from private to public since last Monday, I called Melbourneit in Australia, who thankfully have a toll-free number. They told me that they will send a message to yahoo. If the first message doesn’t get a response in 48 hours they will send another, then after a second has no response they will take over the management of my domain and GET IT DONE!!! At that point, I can move my domain name over to GoDaddy and be rid of yahoo small business forever.
Hopefully, within a few days all will change. I will lose 50 pounds, all my wrinkles will vanish, world hunger will cease, wars will end, species will thrive, and our climate will stabilize– or at least my domain will have transferred to Godaddy.
