I had a birthday this month. It’s hard to believe I’m way closer to 80 than feels comfortable. If we pause to reflect on our lives, we feel the breadth of it but also the reality of time. I’m here and honored to say I lived my life with humor, great love, and decency. Blessed to not have any major illness or affliction, I have had an interesting and emotion-filled existence. Losing my first husband, the father of my two boys, and marrying my second husband, the father of my daughter has made me the woman I am today. Life throws shit at you and you either cave or endure. As I contemplate my life, I can also step outside myself to try and make sense of the world around me. I have come to a very simple conclusion. Humans need an evolution in consciousness. We need to revel in the miracle of all this. We need to grab back the wonder, the fantastic capabilities that we have to modify and make better all in our purview. Medicine, science, and experts in different fields have made the lives of humans more enjoyable and longer. But we have reached a snag in our growth. We have allowed greed, rage, and hate toward the other to have a seat at our table. We must disinvite them. They have no place in this story of humanity. Let’s grow together toward a higher consciousness. Small communities have done this. Helped each through common disasters, and been charitable with money, goods, and food. We can continue on this path and chase away the haters. Yes, let’s chase away the haters.
Let’s try flooding this earth with love. Love is always the answer to any question.
