A world filled with hate

Humans evolved from a single-cell amoeba. Think about that for a sec. We humans with our complicated internal systems, our brains, our cognitive abilities, and our ability to interpret the amazing world we live in, started from an undifferentiated single cell. Over eons, humanity evolved and emerged in the biological sense but unfortunately not in the spiritual sense.

Sadly, we humans today are still like the amoeba whose existence is controlled by self-interest and greed toward it’s own survival. Yes, we can point to exceptional individuals who are highly evolved and spend their time on this planet trying to make a difference. Trying to spread an ideology of inclusiveness, unity, and viability for all species. But unfortunately, because human being’s are disposed to objectify those who differ from the small group to which they identify, efforts to unify are overwhelmed.

It is truly wondrous how diverse our species has become. We speak numerous languages, live on most of the continents with diverse micro-climates, have diverse physical features, although minor to our commonality of limbs, head, eyes, and so forth.

But, we also divide ourselves along these narow segments, which include, where we live, how we think in a religious sense, our ability to amass wealth, and how we look. In stark relief, there is this artificial alignment against those considered the other. Some have said an alien invasion is perhaps the only event that would bind us as humans against the other. In that instance are common humanness would supercede all that divides us today.

Hate and fear wins in this world today. ISIS worships death and killing the other, Blacks in this country are treated as if they are criminals by virtue of the color of their skin by police, by our criminal justice system that throws them in prison for longer terms than whites for the same crime. It’s also important to understand that hate and fear is the product of the distaste of the wealthy toward the poor. The failure of religious institutions to really deliver the message of inclusiveness. The yahoos that allow a bigoted asshole like Trump to have a platform built on fear and hate of the other.

Looking at this from 20,000 ft., I feel saddened and ashamed. Amoebas didn’t pretend to be evolved. They just existed for their own self-serving needs. After all these eons of evolved biology, we are still amoebas in how we behave. A waste of the possibilities of the human experiment. An overwhelming disappointment for the end-game of evolution. Humans are not human but are really dangerous amoebas.
